I wasn't always this way, you know.

I used to smile,

I used to laugh,

I used to have hope.

I used to be crazy,
Running down hills, 
Jumping off roofs, 
I used to be on top of the world!

I used to be like you.

But ever since that fateful day,

When I had to face “reality”,

My world fell apart.

No matter how far I tried to run,

No matter how much I tried to escape,

Clouds hung above my head,

Hailing down upon me,

Battering out whatever dreams I had left from my soul.

My heart turned black,

And eventually, it crumbled and scattered like ashes.

Never to recover.

The fire in my eyes died out,

My emotions were killed,

And nothing mattered anymore.

The energy I had, gone. 
The goals I had, gone. 
The aspirations I had, gone.

I wasn’t always this way, you know.
Son, don’t ever become like me.

Always dream, always hope, never give into “reality”.
