Winners, winners!!!!

It was really, really hard to judge this contest.  I really was honored by the entries.  You guys are awesome. Each poem touched me in different ways.

Now for the winner!

A Hopeless Dream, A Real Nightmare"You can grow up to be anything, even the President."
These words, when spoken from a father to his son,
Ignited a flame of ambition within the child.
Believing he could grow up to be anything he wanted to be,
The young dreamer set his sights on President
In hopes of being looked up to by everyone.
His fantasies were enticing, enrapturing, and enchanting.
The little boy saw himself as a powerful man, a trusted leader,
And a good guy who cared about helping people.
He watched the President on television, shaking hands and making laws.
He heard his leader promise they were safe from war, and he loved the idea
Of being able to make people feel safe and comfortable.
Reality wasn't so keen to let his dreams survive,
Thus misfortune altered his way of thinking
With a bright flash and a big bang.
The world he knew, one he eagerly yearned to move up in
Was blasted into tiny, burning pieces
Too small to piece together, too charred to even make out.
He had heard his father question the President

I really enjoyed this and thought it really reflects the world we live in today.
